“SPN’s rooftop solar panel program allows Reko to protect the environment for our employees and their families, an important consideration for our family-oriented business. SPN’s value proposition of: harnessing renewable power generation; monetizing an otherwise unproductive asset; and no out-of-pocket costs to Reko also represented a smart and prudent business decision. Reko is proud to participate with SPN in their program and encourages others in the local area to investigate the possibility of doing the same.”

Company Profile:

Reko International Group Inc. is a publicly traded, certified woman owned manufacturing company located in Southwestern, Ontario. Established in 1976, Reko International Group Inc. is a diverse value-added designer and manufacturer of customized machining and engineering solutions to OEMs and their Tier I suppliers in dynamic sectors as rail equipment, oil and gas distribution, mining, military, capital equipment, and automotive.

Site-Specific Challenges:

The larger of the two rooftops at Reko represented a massive opportunity for SPN to surpass its own record for largest rooftop solar installation in Ontario, set with the Jamieson Laboratories site in July. At the same time, there was a need to seamlessly integrate the installation operation with the Reko logistical operation, in order to ensure no interruptions to Reko’s vital manufacturing and shipping business were sustained at any time during the install.

The SPN team was able to successfully build out the largest rooftop solar installation in Ontario, without any penetration of the rooftop membrane, without any impact on the structural integrity of the rooftop, and without any interruption to business operations.
